TOMI's "Sister Cities" functionality strengthens the connection between smart cities.
TOMI presents Sister Cities, a new and innovative solution that reinforces the concept of a global community among smart cities.
Integrated into the ecosystem of exclusive services for TOMI network administrators, this feature allows for the direct sharing of content between different cities, promoting more dynamic and collaborative communication.
With Sister Cities, municipalities can now share points of interest, events, and news with each other, expanding the reach of local information and creating new opportunities for territorial promotion. This content exchange is done in a simple and controlled manner, always ensuring validation between the parties involved.
How does it work?
The sharing process is intuitive and based on a logic of bilateral collaboration:
• A municipality proposes the sharing of content with another city in the TOMI network;
• The partner city receives the request and decides whether to accept or not;
• After validation, sharing is activated, allowing the circulation of content between both networks.
This model ensures that each city maintains control over the information it disseminates, while benefiting from greater visibility among new audiences.
Practical Cases: The Impact on Real Life
The Sister Cities feature gains special relevance when analyzed from the perspective of the end user — citizens and tourists.
• Case 1 – Domestic Use
A resident of Melgaço with an active TOMI network consults a device in their daily life and discovers, through Sister Cities, a cultural event taking place in Arcos de Valdevez.
Motivated by the discovery, they decide to organize a family visit to participate in this event, promoting not only mobility between cities, but also internal cultural and tourist consumption.
Result: boosting the local economy and strengthening the connection between municipalities
• Case 2 – Tourist Use
A foreign tourist, during their visit to Vila do Conde, interacts with TOMI and finds, through Sister Cities, a point of interest located in Águeda, for example, a monument, a cultural experience, or a unique event.
It sparks their curiosity and leads them to extend their stay in Portugal to visit Águeda, enriching their travel experience.
Result: Increased tourist length of stay and enhanced global value for the territory
A more connected network
The Sister Cities feature reinforces TOMI's mission to connect cities, citizens, and experiences.
By facilitating collaboration between municipalities, TOMI promotes not only the dissemination of relevant information but also cultural, tourism, and institutional exchange.
This new feature represents another step in building a global network of smart cities, where the sharing of knowledge and content translates into greater value for citizens and visitors.
