TOMI recognized with international smart cities award: InnovaCity

This is the third smart cities recognition that TOMI receives in 2018. This international award recognizes the participation of TOMI in the development of Rio de Janeiro as a smart city.

TOMI was recognized again with an international smart cities award: the InnovaCity, awarded by the Smart City Business America Institute (SCBA), which develops the main event of smart cities in Latin America. This is the third smart city award TOMI receives in 2018 after being recognized with the Smart 50 Awards (Kansas City, USA) and the Smart City UK Awards (London, UK).

The InnovaCity award recognizes TOMI’s work in making Rio de Janeiro a smarter city, by helping to improve its functioning and its quality of life. TOMI has been expanding in the city to the various neighborhoods and the numbers of interactions continue to grow: in 2017, there were more than 6 million interactions and more than 515 thousand photos sent.

José Agostinho, CEO of TOMI WORLD, highlights the award as a consolidation of TOMI’s role in the city of Rio de Janeiro: “TOMI’s operations in Rio de Janeiro have been recognized internationally. We are bringing the residents and tourists closer to the city by providing smart information and services. Rio de Janeiro has a lot of potential to affirm itself as a smart city and TOMI plays a key role in its urban innovation.”

The awards ceremony is held at Palácio Bandeirantes, the seat of the Government of São Paulo. The InnovaCity Award is part of the Smart City Business America Congress & Expo (SCBA C&E), the most important smart cities event in Latin America.

In January, TOMI also won the Smart 50 Awards, which recognizes the most innovative and transformative projects worldwide in the smart cities field. This award was given at the Smart Cities Connect Conference & Expo in Kansas City, USA.

In February, TOMI was the winner in the Smart Cities UK Awards in the Connectivity category. The impact of TOMI on improving digital engagement with citizens and users was recognized as the most innovative connectivity project in 2018. The 2018 Conference, Expo and Smart Cities UK Awards took place in London on February 1st.

The development of smart cities is one of the main objectives of TOMI, which believes that cities should become smarter, more efficient, sustainable and livable. TOMI is currently developing a worldwide expansion project to bring its smart cities solution to countries and cities around the world.
