TOMI arrived in Santiago, capital of Chile, with devices installed in the center of the city. This implementation is part of the project that intends to elevate this city to smart city.
In a first phase the TOMI were installed in the “Paseo Bandera”, one of the most well-known streets of the city center that was recently renovated and transformed into a street exclusively pedestrian. This street is developing as a smart cities showroom.
According to José Agostinho, CEO of TOMI WORLD, TOMI will contribute to the affirmation of the city as a smart city:
“Santiago is a city that prioritizes technological progress and looks for ways to be closer to its citizens and tourists. TOMI will play an important role in the development of Santiago as a smart city, providing all the information and smart services on the streets. Any resident or tourist can find all the essential information about the city.”
The official inauguration of the network was on June 15 and was attended by the president of the commune of Santiago, Felipe Alessandri Vergara and dozens of media.
TOMI is part of the development of the project that intends to make Santiago more intelligent and connected with its citizens. TOMI helps improve the quality of life for residents and tourists by providing smart information and services at the right time in the right place. The TOMI represents the answer to the need to provide useful and personalized urban information to the inhabitants and visitors of the capital of Chile.
Following a criterion of proximity, TOMI provides useful information on current events, allows you to consult the cultural agenda, find various points of interest, search different transport options and even take away the so famous “selfie” or GIF. All this information is available in Santiago de Chile in Spanish (the official language) and in English, in order to allow citizens and tourists to have access to the potential of TOMI. It is anticipated that TOMI will continue to expand in this city in the medium term.
TOMI was also recently recognized with three smart cities awards: the Smart 50 Awards by Smart Cities Connect (Kansas City, USA), the Smart Cities UK Awards and the last the Innovations by the Smart City Business America Institute.
